DERRY – Dr. William Nevious, President of the Pinkerton Academy Board of Trustees, has announced that the Board will immediately offer the Auburn School District a credit of up to $30,000 as assistance to its extraordinary FY 2023-24 budget emergency. These funds can be used toward the cost of spring 2024 sports, field trips, and arts/music programs.
WMUR reported the Auburn school board cited an unexpected number of students in need of special educational services as one of the reasons it was $800,000 over budget.
“One of the biggest factors in all of this is the intensity of services were greater than we anticipated 18 months ago,” school board chair Alan Villeneuve told WMUR.
Pinkerton Board President Dr. William Nevious said in a news release, “As partners with the Auburn community, we recognize the integral role of these experiences in the lives of students. We are joining our support to the efforts of the parents and the broader Auburn community who are working to minimize the impact of this emergency on the students of Auburn.”
“As one of Pinkerton Academy’s sending towns, Auburn students are part of our Pinkerton community. Many will be Pinkerton students next fall,” Nevious said. “We seek to provide all students with meaningful opportunities that support their growth, so we are happy to be able to assist in the community’s efforts to provide the best possible experience for their students.”
